Help us celebrate DreamBIG's 50th birthday by contributing to our collaborative bunting!

Download the bunting triangle template below and encourage students to decorate one on the theme 'I was, I am, I will be.' Post or scan the finished artworks to us, and see them strung around the festival site.

Please find instructions below on how to make your bunting, and either send in to DreamBIG or string it around your classroom!

How to make collaborative bunting for the classroom

What you will need:

  • A3 print out of the bunting template for each child
  • Pencils, textas, paint or other materials to decorate the bunting
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Stapler

Decorate your triangles

  1. Download the bunting diamond template. The template shape is a diamond, as it will be folded in half to create a double-sided decorated triangle.
  2. Each person participating decorates their own bunting. Make sure they know that the dotted line is the top of each triangle. They can do two separate designs on each half of the diamond or try to copy their design on both halves.
  3. If you’re sending it in to DreamBIG find the postal address or email address (if you’re scanning them through) below.
  4. If you’re stringing it up in your classroom read on for assembling instructions.

Assembling your bunting

  1. Cut out each diamond and fold in half along the dotted line.
  2. Cut string to the desired length.
  3. Work out how much space you would like between each bunting triangle.
  4. Position your first triangle so that the string is running along the middle fold.
  5. Close the triangles over the string, and use the stapler to enclose the string (making sure the string is caught in the staple, otherwise the bunting will shuffle along the string when it is hung up), and sparsely around the edges of the triangle to keep the two sides of the diamond template together.
  6. Repeat with all the bunting triangles until you have a string of bunting, and hang around your classroom!
  7. Take some pictures of your hard work and send them through to us!
